Tablet CE-RoHS Certification: Key to Hazardous Substance Control and Compliance

Author:中认联科 time:2026-04-17 Ctr:8

CE-RoHS certification is a mandatory compliance threshold for tablets to enter the EU market. Composed of CE (Conformité Européenne) certification and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive, it is a dual access standard for safety and environmental protection set by the EU for consumer electronic products, and also an essential qualification for products to be legally sold and circulated in the 27 EU member states and the European Economic Area.

CE certification focuses on product use safety and electromagnetic compatibility performance. In accordance with core EU directives such as low voltage and electromagnetic compatibility, it tests indicators of tablets including circuit protection, electric shock prevention and electromagnetic interference suppression, eliminating potential safety hazards to human bodies and surrounding equipment during operation. RoHS certification focuses on environmental protection control, strictly restricting the content of six hazardous substances such as lead, mercury and cadmium in body materials and components, in line with the EU’s regulatory requirements of green, low-carbon and sustainable development.

When applying for this certification, enterprises need to first organize product technical documents and material list, entrust an EU-authorized third-party testing institution to complete full-item tests on prototypes, submit test reports and technical documents for compliance assessment, and mark the CE mark on products after passing the assessment. This certification has no fixed validity period, but re-testing is required to confirm compliance if product design or core materials are changed.

EU customs and market regulators impose strict controls on tablets without CE-RoHS certification. Non-compliant products will be detained during customs clearance, recalled from shelves, and enterprises will also face risks such as fines and damaged brand reputation.

For tablet manufacturers and foreign trade enterprises, completing CE-RoHS certification is not only a legal obligation to comply with EU regulations, but also the key to opening up the European market and enhancing product international competitiveness. Adhering to the dual compliance bottom line of safety and environmental protection and standardizing the certification process can enable tablets to smoothly enter the EU market and achieve long-term and steady development in the global consumer electronics sector.
