Since 2023, the list of 65 hazardous substances in California has been updated three times, including 8 substances.

According to California 65 regulatory requirements, after new substances are listed, manufacturers and distributors must complete the warning within 12 months and stop the discharge of chemicals to drinking water sources within 20 months. After this date, the government or individual law enforcers, including individuals or organizations representing the public interest, may bring a lawsuit against those who violate the regulations. Products containing new substances may face lawsuits, resulting in high fines.

Warm tips

The California 65 Act control list itself does not set control limits for harmful substances in products, so enterprises need to pay close attention to previous litigation cases or settlement agreements of similar products, and conduct supply chain surveys for these high-risk chemicals with reference to the limits in the agreements; When necessary, it can be tested to reduce the risk of product violation.
