Scope of application

1. This regulation applies to

◆ Button lithium battery (any size and type);

◆ Button lithium batteries with a diameter of 16 mm or more;

◆ The button battery provided together (not pre-installed in the product).

2. However, this regulation does not apply to

◆ Button batteries designed or intended to be used in hearing aids or hearing aids, using zinc-air chemical technology, (that is, equipment that collects sound through air conduction and transmits the processed sound into the ear canal);

◆ Button batteries supplied in bulk: used in commerce, industrial companies or professional industries, and not sold to the public.

Structural requirements

◆ The packaging design of button batteries should be kept away from children;

◆ If there are multiple button batteries, a blister packaging design that can only take out one button battery at a time should be adopted, and even if another battery is taken from the package, the other batteries should still be enclosed in child-safe protective packaging.

Label requirements

1. The following warning signs should be clearly visible, eye-catching and clearly marked on the package:

◆ A warning word with capital letters (such as DANGER, WARNING or CAUTION);

◆ A safety warning symbol (internationally recognized);

◆ A symbol of "keep out of reach of children" (internationally recognized);

◆ A statement, keep the battery away from children;

◆ A statement as follows:

(1) For button lithium battery: (button battery is swallowed or enters any part of the body, it may cause serious or fatal injury in 2 hours or less)

(2) For button batteries other than button lithium batteries: If the button battery is swallowed or enters any part of the body, it may cause serious injury;

◆ A suggestion statement: If it is suspected that the button battery has been swallowed or entered any part of the human body, you should seek medical help immediately.

2. The following are examples of the safety warnings and "keep out of reach of children" symbols specified in ISO 7010 W001 and ISO 7010-M055:

4. The lithium button battery with a diameter of 16 mm or more should be marked with the symbol "keep out of reach of children". The symbol should be clearly visible, prominent and indelible.

5. The warning attached to products that use/contain button batteries shall meet the requirements of ISO 3864-2:2016 product safety label size and legibility (clause 5) and product safety label durability (clause D.7).
